The Kensington Park

The Kensington Park neighborhood is located on property owned by the Paver Family Corporation. In the past few years, the community has been working to improve the area through the Kensington Park Neighborhood Plan. It addresses issues such as transportation, crime and safety, and appearance and beautification.

The park is a great place for family activities and recreation. For example, there are two boat lanches and kayak rentals, a lake, and hiking trails. Kensington State Park is also nearby and offers activities like swimming, fishing, and a petting farm. Several summer camps are held for youth. There are several other biking and hiking trails. During winter, there are snowshoes and cross-country skiing.

The park is operated by the Huron-Clinton Metroparks system. It covers 4,543 acres. It has wooded hills, a lake, and paved hike-bike trails. Some of the playgrounds are ADA-accessible, featuring sensory-friendly equipment and dignity landings on slides. Also, the sledding hill is open in the fall.

The park is open from 5 AM to 10 PM. In addition to recreational activities, the park offers a cafe and snacks. Additionally, there are benches and picnic tables throughout the park. The common areas are ideal for relaxing or catching up on the news.

The park also offers free concerts during the summer months. For more information, visit the Kensington website. Those interested in learning how to ice fish can also sign up for the Learn to Ice Fish program.

The Kensington Farm Center is another popular activity. This center offers a weekend hayride along the Huron River and a variety of other recreational activities. It also has a 150-year-old barn and poultry house. They are also home to a golf course. Those who are interested in playing the game can play on the course for $3 a day. Alternatively, they can choose a private charter.

Other parks in the area include the Kensington Community Center, the Kensington Hut, and the Kensington Playground Park. These facilities are part of the Kensington Park Neighborhood Plan. One of the goals of the plan is to create a community-based plan that focuses on six priority areas: Utilities, Appearance and Beautification, Crime and Safety, Transportation, and Community Building.

While the Kensington Park neighborhood is not currently a neighborhood park, the community is working towards a conversion. Residents are requesting a neighborhood park to be created.

The Kensington Park Civic Association is involved in community efforts, such as the Kensington Park Neighborhood Plan. The association has held meetings and workshops with county staff and neighbors. As part of the planning process, the organization has created a walking committee, a beautification committee, and a safety brochure. During these meetings, they worked to create a safe and welcoming neighborhood. They also established a foundation for future cooperation and communication.

The community of Kensington Park has a rich history. It was originally annexed to Chicago in 1889. Now, it is home to more than 1,200 households and has an average household income of $58,500. Approximately half of the residents have completed at least one college degree and one-third has earned a high school diploma. Another third has completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree.
