Deer Lake Park – Burnaby is a stunning park that offers a tranquil place to enjoy a relaxing day outdoors. Another feature of the park is the Festival Lawn, a beautiful open area that hosts a variety of musical events during the summer. In addition to the summer concerts, there are also seasonal attractions such as Heritage Christmas and the Haunted Village.


The Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, located in the park, has a wide variety of arts, dance and theater performances. It is also the home of the Burnaby Art Gallery. Both buildings are open to the public. If you’re visiting in the spring or summer, be sure to check out the rhododendron display.


Depending on the time of year, you might even be able to see a beaver building a dam. However, be sure to bring along extra clothes and safety gear. During the summer, you can find outdoor concerts at the park, including the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra’s free Symphony in the Park concert.


For those who want to experience the rhododendrons in full bloom, you can visit the Century Gardens. These gardens are home to a rhododendron display as well as a rose garden. You can view the floral wonderland from a boardwalk, which is another fun way to explore the park.


Deer Lake is a great spot for a picnic, but you can also take a leisurely walk around the park. You will be able to find several connecting trails that lead to the various buildings and amenities in the park. When you return to the parking lot, you can find a number of restrooms, which is an added bonus.


You can also go to the Roy Whalen Heritage Museum. This is a historic building that you will definitely enjoy. It is a short walk from the park. Located near the corner of Deer Lake Avenue and Sperling Avenue, it features a small museum.


While you’re in the area, you should also visit the Burnaby Farmers Market. This market is held every Saturday from 10am to 2pm.
